Our big 61 night trip is fast approaching and it is time for the nit picky details to be completed. All the reservations are made, but now I want to confirm transportation options from the airports to the hotels, get the names of the safest taxi companies if possible in some of the cities, arrange for a travel insurance policy (medical evacuation), get my email list together, call the credit card companies, pack the electric converters, make sure my car insurance is paid, and get my prescriptions refilled for the extended time period (I got that okayed already).
I remembered to turn off my international feature on my Iphone. I’ll just use my Acer netbook and internet cafes for access back to friends and family. And of course we have Skype on the netbook.
Our visas should be back any day from the Visa processor. I hope so, as I have a mileage run to London on the 21st for a quick 8K EQM with United. (The ticket price was $251 so I had to go.)
I did the electronic visas for Australia with American Airlines at $25 each but paid extra for the Cambodian one and Brazil just so I wouldn’t have to wait in Cambodia and killed two birds with one stone.
I made my last hotel adjustment on March 2nd, when the categories shifted on some of the Starwood properties. The Sheraton Skyline in London dropped a category so I rebooked it at the lower category and rate for the cash and points option. some of my reservations would now be more expensive had I not made them earlier. Starwood upped the category on 4 of the hotels we will be staying in.
I tried to take pictures of the 30+ reservations I’ve made for the trip, but couldn’t get it to show very well. Katy and I are taking a class on the 20th of March at the Hilton Head Island Computer Club on “How to Take Better Digital Photos” so you’ll see the trip from a better perspective we hope.
Katy’s new back pack arrived yesterday so we are back to matching back packs?? How dorky, but it was the best one we could find for size, with wheels and detachable day packs. Timberland 20″ wheeled at about $80 each. My Walmart $17 Special unexpectedly exploded on me during a mileage run. Maybe I shouldn’t have tugged on the handle quite so firmly?
Thank Goodness these two aren’t matching blaze orange. The subdued grey with orange accents doesn’t look quite so conspicuous.
