Compliments of the boys at Fatwallet.com comes the coupon code 2000IHG, good at participating Intercontinetals, and the rest of the Holiday Inn Group. The information is provided by CalItalian who is a member of both Flyertalk and Fatwallet. Here is his post and all credit goes to him for this one.
Expedia/IHG Promo $200 off 3-night air/hotel packages (as low as $44)
Expedia $200 off coupon code for 3 night air and hotel VACATION PACKAGE at IHG hotels (Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, Hotel Indigo, Candlewood Suites, Intercontinental Hotels, Crowne Plaza Hotel)
Use Code: 200IHG (it’s many pages in…just above the Visa, MasterCard, Discover, Amex logos on the PAYMENT PAGE where you apply the code. A real PITA, when doing a search) “I Have a Coupon”.
Receive an instant $200 savings on a qualifying vacation package booking that includes least one (1) non-refundable, roundtrip plane ticket, together with a hotel booking of at least three (3) consecutive nights at the same participating hotel.
How to redeem: Sign in to your Expedia.com user account (you do NOT have to sign-in, btw…you can sign in as a guest). After selecting a qualifying vacation package, on the vacation package billing and delivery page you will see the link “I have a coupon”. Click on this link and enter the code 200IHG. Instant coupons cannot be applied to guest registration bookings. If you do not have an Expedia.com user account, please create one prior to making your qualifying vacation package booking.
Restrictions: Coupon must be used on Expedia.com by 11:59 PM (Pacific Time) on 8/31/09, for travel between 7/20/09 and 9/30/09. Travel must be completed by 9/30/09. The cost of the qualifying booking must be at least $200 before taxes and fees. Limit one (1) coupon per package booking. This offer is from Expedia.com® and is available to Expedia.com U.S. customers only. Bookings are subject to availability and to all applicable terms, conditions, taxes and fees.
This works best for ONE person booking the package. Most Expedia promos work that you can use only ONE code per account and credit/debit/gift cards. So, if you want to do multiple bookings, be sure you have MULTIPLE cards (or vitual credit card numbers) and accounts if you want to keep track of your bookings (I’d also make them for multiple email addresses). The lowest I’ve found is in Las Vegas. I got it down to just the taxes and not a penny more (the promo WILL NOT take off the taxes. You must be above the price of taxes or the code will not work). LAX-LAS 8/18-8-21 US Airways Candlewood Suites $237.00 (including $43.99 in taxes). Add a carbon footprint add-on (add-ons work with the promo if you get too low) for $6.99 = 243.99 less $200 code = $43.99.
One of the best deals I have found is for LAX-PHX for the final two weekends (Friday to Monday on US Airways) in August. The new InterContinental Montelucia resort for $207 including air/hotel and taxes (the hotel does charge a $24 per night resort fee) after the promo. I also found the Holiday Inn Silicon Valley for $64.89 for 3 nights. JetBlue from LAX-SJC. Example dates 9/19-22. It’s available many different night combos.
Those are just examples from my home area, Los Angeles but try your luck and find a package from your area.Another hint: 2 people travelling together in one room who want 6 nights. Try the Expedia Vacation Package feature “I only need a hotel for part of my trip”. Book twice. Book one person for the first three nights (6 nights air) and the second person for the last three nights (same exact flights – 6 nights air).
There is NO official list of airlines that don’t work BUT flights from following airlines are confirmed working so far:
- American (Flights to the Caribbean and Mexico, so far. Not Domestic but possibly other international destinations)
- Sun Country
- US Airways
- Virgin America
Flights from following airlines are confirmed not working so far:
- Delta (May now be working. One post on Flyertalk.com has an itinerary from NYC to WAS).
- United I got one to work from TVC to ORD flights and 3 nights for $161
There is nothing in the t&c’s that seem to exclude any airline so you could call in to Expedia and try to get your itinerary book that way. The list above is what I and others (FlyerTalk and FW) have found to work ONLINE.
Not all hotel locations work. Look for the promo to be listed for the hotel. Once you have done a general search, search each brand (see above) to make it easier to view the IHG hotels that are available for your destination (you should see the promo listed along with hotel) and dates (you can also search by arriving city not just the airport). This is available for packages worldwide not just the USA. Just make sure you find a partcipating IHG hotel and a flight that works with the promo.

IHG® Rewards Club Select Credit Card
- Annual Fee: $49 fee waived for the first year
- Foreign Fees: No
- Card Type: Hotel
The IHG Rewards Club Visa is often cited as one of the most underrated hotel credit cards, with good reason. The official offer is for 70,000 points after $1,000 spent within three months, with the first year’s fee waived. The card comes with an annual free night certificate that can be used at any IHG property, including Intercontinental hotels - making this certificate worth upwards of 50,000 points. This is far more generous than some other hotel cards, which limit the categories in which free night certificates can be redeemed.
Cardholders earn 5 points per dollar at IHG hotels; 2 points per dollar at gas stations, grocery stores, and restaurants; 1 point per dollar everywhere else. Moreover, you’ll get a 10% rebate on award redemptions, up to 100,000 points per year. The card also comes with Platinum status, though that doesn’t get you much with IHG. Still, this is a fantastic card to have in your wallet, with benefits that far outweigh the already low $49 annual fee.
- Earn 70,000 bonus points after you spend $1,000 in the first 3 months of account opening
- Enjoy a free night of card membership at over 4,700 hotels worldwide
- Earn 5 points for each $1 spent at our hotels
- Earn 2 points per $1 spent on purchases at gas stations, grocery stores and restaurants
- Bonus points redeemable at hotels such as Intercontinental® Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza® Hotels & Resorts and Holiday Inn®
- Automatic platinum elite status, as long as you remain a cardmember
- $0 introductory annual fee the first year, then $49
