BRITISH AIRWAYS 100K Link UP Again

As of yesterday afternoon the Chase/British Airways 100,000 mile link was up again. Read yesterday’s post. PRINT a COPY of the PAGE for your records.

Indeed, I also got an order of $2,000 Native American coins canceled the other day. Still waiting on the others to see what happens, but I guess I won't have my hopes up. I just needed a few thousand more miles for a big trip I am planning.

Same exact process happened to me with the mint. I was using the coins to pay my motgage as well – but no more. I will not be denied!

US MINT – gift certificate purchases
for reward requirements. Has anyone else done this?

Last month to help a friend with the BA Visa spend requirement -
I bought $1500 in coins and TEST ordered $500 in gift certificates. $100, $200s. – Coins on backorder. The credit card is charged that day for the gifts and an email is received with the electronic certificate numbers. Reward is earned on the card used.

Note: Not all e-certificates work with on-line ordering system (told it was a database issues?)

TODAY: Certificates can be stacked when placing order by phone. Customer Rep had never done one before and had to learn with me that it could be done. Used 3 certificates to place $500 order. Confirming email received while I was on phone with mint.

Assessment = Process continues as usual for small order. Don't know yet what they would do for larger deals.

Anyone else?

Do you happen to know how much the fees are on award travel for BA? I've heard that they can be exorbitantly high

Taxes and fees are high if flying BA through Heathrow. No such issues with domestic or other carriers have been reported. I'm using our for 8 domestic round trips.

I know I've heard people say they're using the BA miles domestically to avoid the huge taxes but I'm not sure if I understand how to use them on AA. Can you explain?

You can book any OneWorld flight directly with BA miles on British Airways' website.

I tried this out recently for a one-way JFK-CCS trip, and the cost was the same ($2.50 + 17500 miles) using both BA miles and AAdvantage miles.

Booking to Heathrow is about $250 cheaper using AAdvantage miles, but it costs 60K, instead of the 50K BA miles required. If you value the miles at 1.6 cents apiece, it's still cheaper to use the AAdvantage miles, but not by as much as an initial glance might indicate.
