The Zync card I promoted several days ago advertised 10,000 Membership Rewards points on first purchase.
We now find out that they are Membership Rewards Express points which have half the value and cannot be transferred to airline miles one for one. They can still be used to buy flights which is good, and the cards use will still help you establish credit, BUT they are not the same animal is originally portrayed in their ad.
If you applied for this card expecting to have a 1 point per mile value or 1 cent each, I suggest calling Amex to get it straightened out.
Gary S at the Free Frequent Flyer Miles .com website posted this relevant notice.
Caution: The the “Membership Rewards points” offered and earned by the American Express Zync card are not the same as ordinary Membership Rewards points. They are part of a lower tiered program. They are not transferable to airline or hotel programs, and they are worth half as much as ordinary Membership Rewards points for purchases with the points. But 20,000 of these points can be redeemed for $100. This obfuscation is typical of American Express. Sorry it fooled me for awhile. If you ordered this card in exception of ordinary Membership Rewards points, I strongly suggest you call American Express to cancel your order and demand that no fee be charged due to their obfuscation.
Consider it two of us now that suggest you try to have them make it right.
Call them and have them make it right.
