50000 Miles for First Time United Visa Card Applicants

I got several emails this morning regarding this new offer for first timers with United Mileage Plus Visa. 50K for a $250 spend is about as good as it gets.

You must do this by phone. Call 1-800-421-4655 and choose apply for a credit card option. As always get the name and employee number of the customer service rep. Make sure you get it in the conversation that it is for 50,000 points.

great offer…however, a question: If I had the UAL Mileage PLUS VISA before (2 yrs ago)…am I still good for this? Most seasoned churners have gotten the UAL card(s) before and the bonuses….Are we still FIRST TIME card holders with them if we haven't touched those cards in over a year or so?

Great offer!!..A question: Most seasoned churners have gotten the UAL cards before and bonuses. How long before we are considered "first time card holders" again? In my case, I believe it was a year ago when I last had a UAL card.

my bf and i both got approved for this card. yay!

I already had a UMP Visa Signature Platinum that earned me 30,000 bonus miles when I opened in Oct09, but just applied today and was told I would get the 50,000 miles as long as the card I had before didn't have the same amount of bonus miles as this new offer. Also, was told bonus mileage comes with first purchase (not $250 spend). I didn't get instant approval, but hope it goes through in 2 weeks!

No annual fee the first year. $60 after that.

I was approved for the Chase BA card in November and rejected for the Chase Continental card in January, due to "too many applications". Despite the setback, this one seemed too good to resist.

I didn't get instant approval, but when I called today, 24-hours after my application, I received the good news that I had been approved!

Where does it talk about the annual fee? When I checked, it showed $375/year. Do you have a link?

NO link as indicated in post. You need to call if it is not already expired

Just got off the phone (04.11) and the offer is still on… also was told that it includes a one way upgrade and $25 travel voucher on top of the 50K miles (If I understood the rep correctly, which wasn't exactly 'easy')

Just off the phone w/overseas UAL customer service rep who took my VISA credit card application for card. 50K in UAL miles for any first purchase & no annual fee first year. Rec'd standard "approval/denial within 2 weeks" but I'm sure I'll hear from 'em this week. Erik.

Oh, no. Waited too long. The voice recording says that they're no longer accepting applications over the phone. Anyone have print material with a URL for the offer they can post?

I do NOT believe it is over. You need to get a United MP rep to transfer you to a Chase representative. There is no URL. This is by PHONE only. Call back and ask for "REPRESENTATIVE" until you get one

Thanks for the encouragement. I'll try it again, but I tried twice already just in case I hit something wrong. When I selected "apply for MP Visa card" it took me straight to a recorded announcement that says the offer is over BUT if you have print material about the offer with a URL on it they'll still accept it. I'll try again and post results.

Do NOT select apply for MP Visa card. Select "Reservations" and when you get an agent on the line ask to be auto transferred to the Chase #

Yep, that was the missing piece of information. After an epic 24-minute phone call, I have completed the application as well.

For those just now calling in, here's a blow-by-blow of what I did:

Call the number. Say "Account Management." Give your UA number. Then you'll get another list of options but DO NOT say "apply for a Mileage Plus Visa." Instead, just fail out by hitting 0 or saying "representative" until the system gives up on you and transfers you to a human.

At that point, I said, "Hello, I'm trying to apply for the Chase Mileage Plus visa that offers 50,000 miles with first purchase, but I couldn't find that option. Can you transfer me to a Chase representative please?" They did so promptly.

At that point I had a Chase person, so I reiterated "There are a lot of card offers out there, so I want to confirm that this is for the card that gives 50,000 United miles with the first purchase, right?" She confirmed.

Then get ready, because they read you all the Ts and Cs over the phone. Just hang on until the end and you're good to go.

I applied today and was approved…best thing…I receive 50,000 miles after FIRST purchase, no minimum amount. I am so excited! Seattle, here I come!

I followed Ed Chandler's advice and successfully had the customer service rep sign me up for the offer.

Was the call epic in length… yes

Do I think it was worth the time… yes
