Just cruising the Marriott forum on Flyertalk I ran across a new promotion:

The catch is – members must change their earning preference to MILES on their Marriott profile. The promotion link will not show up until the earning preference has been changed. Here are the terms copied from the promo page.

We received a letter in the mail yesterday from United offering the 50,000 miles card up until June 7. Since we already applied over the phone, we threw the letter out. Just FYI.

I hate when hotels comp statuses to customers who haven't earned it.
