Semester at Sea uses Travel Document Services and we did not have a problem with any of our daughter's Visas that she needed, including China.

Rick, Christine and I used this agency for our visa's in 2008 and they were great. I FedEx'd my passport+info on a Monday and had it back by the Thursday, regular email's from them updating the progress. Located out of Houston, where there is a Chinese Consulate.

Just 4 days in China? Why? You make it all the way to China and spend just 3 days in Beijing? Soak in, enjoy the culture, strech this part of your vacation out.

Rick your trip sounds amazing. Hey, I have a question. I applied for the Chase One pass card 2 days ago and was denied when I called them yesterday for too many inquiries recently. I started reading your blog in June and have applied for 2 Starwood cards and 2 citi AA cards since then. My credit score is 760 as of yesterday. I am shocked I was denied as I want some continental miles so I can go to Indonesia next summer. How else can I get continental miles? Also, how can I prevent getting further denials in the next few months? The agent said to wait at LEAST 6 months before applying for another card. Any help?

Travis: Call Chase back and offer to reduce the credit line on an existing card you have with them or even cancel one to get the CO approval

In Xi'An (closest town to the warriors) try to stay at the Hyatt Regency ($88/night). They have a fantastic lounge with great staff to help you with anything.

Back in August, the Subway was still not completed but the trek down the main road was a mess.

At the wall, head to the MuTianYu gate, which is the least crowded.

I asked the supervisor if I could cancel a card or lower a limit on my 2 other Chase cards but he said that would not affect the decision. I don't know of any other solutions, do you?

Just curious as to why you chose Gary Leff's service over Lucky's? Does one have expertise over the other in certain alliances?

I have used Zierer Visa Services with no problem. http://www.zvs.com Last time, in fact when I got my last China visa, I am quite sure we used Abriggs.com I think that China visas require someone to actually go to their embassy or consulate. Abriggs is located in DC. They were very efficient and we had no problems. I also seem to remember that you cannot apply for most visas more than 90 days before entry but please check that out. I am not sure.

Oh, by the way, I called the Visa Signature Card concierge line to get a bunch of visa info. As billed, the guy provided a load of information quickly and was very nice.

Rick, I absolutely love PassportVisasExpress. I've emailed them at 10PM at night and received a response in 20 minutes. They've worked several emergency situations for me by meeting clients at the airport, etc all for extremely reasonable prices.

(Yes, my travel agency gets a small commission, but I recommended them for years before they started giving us commission.)
