December is a Busy Travel Month

We have quite the travel schedule upcoming:

December 2nd to 6th we are off to Miami to play the Blue Monster at Doral and then on to the Marriott Resort in Marco Island with friends for some R & R. Flying the American nonstop SAV-MIA early on the 2nd and meeting my son Andrew from Sydney for a day of family time. He is on his way to Antarctica to visit his 7th and last continent before the age of 30. You think I get around? I’ve put him to work next year, providing all the photographs for the Wednesday and Sunday Fotos so you will continue to see photography at its best.

We’ll kick around South Beach on the 2nd, have dinner in Coconut Grove and play Doral the morning of the 3rd before zipping across Alligator Alley to Marco Island.

On the 7th I’m off to Lost Wages, Nevada for one night on the Expedia.ca deal and back on the 8th.

The 10th I’m off to a seminar in Washington returning on the 11th then we are back in Vegas on the 12th to 16th for some poker, shows and fun.

We’ll be in South Carolina for the Holiday and then the travel schedule heats up again with Aruba the middle of January and Hawaii at the end of the month for 10 days. I’m also going to get started on my United 1K qualification with a mileage run or two and get my Star Alliance Gold status for lounge access by crediting a few flights to Aegean Airlines.

We have become accustomed to the warm weather of the south and it now actually feels chilly here in January. I never thought that would happen but it does. I think your blood thins out or something, hence the warm weather destinations.

Hope to see you somewhere in the world in the next couple months. Drop me an email if any of our destinations match.

Rick – love your blog, it's what got me hooked on this crazy miles game. But I too think DL SkyMiles are over-berated. There are good redemption options on Air France and KLM to Europe and beyond. Their medium level awards work out at a 2-3cpm value which is not bad if you can source at 1cpm. And with Virgin Australia I'd say they have one of the most accessible US-Australia options out there, with much better availability than OneWorld or Star Alliance where we all know how hard it is to get to Oz.

So let me add to this by saying DL also has a 100% bonus on buying miles if you use DL Amex through year end. Now may not be that exciting on it's own but if you are trying to top up for say an award to Oz then it's a great value.

    Thanks again!

    Hi Rick,

There can always be deals to "top off" an account but for my money it would be cheaper to get a biz number with your state and then do the 5 Suntrust cards. Much cheaper and way more miles for the money. I do not think people ever look at having any kind of small biz! Just get your own we site even an EBAY store for crying out loud and then register with your state. Cheap, tax write-off's and you can do biz cards simple then. IMO that is!
