It seems you can double dip the “get more 50% promo” with this 30% one. Flyertalk Members have been successfully registering for the 30% offer then adding on the 50% offer. Remember the 50% offer is for first time transfer people only.

If you apply for the Platinum card from American Express and use that 50K bonus to repay your original 50K points advance from American Express you end up with a whole ton of Delta miles (90,000), lounge access, Silver status for two years and a $200 incidental credit on your favorite airline all for $450.

Rene describes the steps better than I could in Saturdays post so go back for a reread. Just remember to register for the 30% offer first then follow Rene’s instructions.

Very NICE on the FAQ list! Great! I would make it BLINK or BOLD or someway NO ONE can miss it.

I have a request more than a suggestion for the "newbee" day. I know lot's about airmiles but little about HOTEL. I did a bit of a FTG search but for example when you get a priceline room do you still get points & stay credits with chain? upgrades? More info on how to book best price etc etc and then get money back (ie check first then book etc?) Just an idea for a Friday I guess.

I was approved for the CO 30K in late December and the UA 50K Amex in mid January. They called and asked me to shift part of a credit line from another card over, but that was it. No mention of a 6 month rule. I'm a long-time non-churning customer, though.

Rick: I've something to add to this thread re: the 6 mth rule ; If you have a Chase checking/savings account, and use it often, then your chances of getting approved for multiple Chase cards helps. Especially if you have over 10K total in the account(s). At least this is what my Chase banker told me when I opened my checking account locally.

Can anyone provide the link for the forum that tells you which of the (3) credit bureaus a credit card application will pull in your area? I can't find it anywhere.

I disagree that signing up for all FF programs is a good idea. Yes, if you're going to be using the program, then signing up probably makes sense.

However, the promotion ran by Alaska Airlines for all of 2010 was only for people who signed up for a frequent flier account during 2010, but was limited to people in Oregon and SW Washington. That promotion got you 25k miles on Alaska for doing a round-trip flight on Alaska. It was sweet.

So, if you signed up for an account previous to 2010, then you wouldn't have qualified for that offer.

I just don't see the point in signing up for FF accounts until the need arises. While most times this may not be a big deal most times, it could cut you out of some very lucrative opportunities. And, my sources tell me that Alaska is considering running a similar promotion in other geographic markets in the future.

Regarding signing up for All Frequent Flyer Airline Programs now vs. waiting until good promotion available, ie. Alaska Air???

IMHO, sign up for them all now. If a good promotion becomes available in the future that is targeted to only 'New Members', then create a new FF account for that airline and get the promotion. Done. Potential merge down the road. Got it? or do a new account for 'friend'. Your friend can use the award account to ticket in your name anyway.

Again, IMHO, this does not happen often. But I do use Awardwallet to manage all accounts for me, s/o, mom, daughter, and 'friends'. so not much extra effort.
