What You Don’t Want to Know

“I’m constantly under pressure to carry less fuel than I’m comfortable with. Airlines are always looking at the bottom line, and you burn fuel carrying fuel. Sometimes if you carry just enough fuel and you hit thunderstorms or delays, then suddenly you’re running out of gas and you have to go to an alternate airport.” -Captain at a major airline

“Sometimes the airline won’t give us lunch breaks or even time to eat. We have to delay flights just so we can get food.” -First officer on a regional carrier

“We tell passengers what they need to know. We don’t tell them things that are going to scare the pants off them. So you’ll never hear me say, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, we just had an engine failure,’ even if that’s true.” -Jim Tilmon, retired American Airlines pilot, Phoenix

I wouldn't conclude at all that there won't be any Checking/Debit deal this year. The link you posted is the standard debit card deal that Chase has continually run. Even when the big 25K checking bonus deal was alive, one could obtain the debit card w/ the 2,500 miles even as an existing Chase acct holder – I did so a few weeks ago.

(Not saying there WILL be a bigtime bonus, just I don't conclude that the existence of the linked offer necessarily means nothing else.)

Also, it would not be $100 in fees for 10K miles. Footnote 3 states that up to 3 authorized users may be added "for free". So it's $25 for 10K.

I think it should be a lesson that some type of restraint should be used whem pimping this type of strategy. Everyone wants to be the glory hound and publicize every step of the process. People need to be smarter about their websites and their posting. Eventually all deals die — but it makes no sense to rub companies facing in it that you are flaunting their procedures.

I don't think you should allow anonymous comment posting, so we can know who these clowns are that say some of the stuff they say (ie the rude post before me), but it is up to you.
I noticed that my BUSINESS CHASE Checking account points have not posted (25,000) and was wondering if I contact CHASE or CONTINENTAL and if it was going to be a hassle?(advise appreciated)I did the offer that expired OCT31, 2010 It states they should post 6-10 weeks after the first 5 debit posted to the new account (which for me was11/9/10) so they should have posted between 12/21 and 1/11/11) I have gotten a statement from them and it says: REWARDS SUMMARY: enrollment bonus miles: 2500 INSTEAD OF 25,0000 miles! help!
also only 22,500 has posted for my personal Chase Checking account offers, is this common that the whole 25,000 does not post yet?(posted like 10,0000 and 12,500)
    Thanks for your help

Anon: It will be a hassle. The 2500always come last and I can't remember if they are coming from Chase or CO. Hell yes call them both. You will probably get the shuffle saying it is the other ones responsibility. They are slow but mine have always posted

I believe it's a little early just yet to make determinations on the potential of 2011 Chase Continental/United Debit Checking. Give it a couple months into the new year, people seem to think that account mergers will not take place until 4th quarter of 2011 to 1st quarter of 2012. That would give us plenty of time for new promotions to pop up, especially if some executive has there yearly bonus tied to new account signups :)

I signed up for the Chase business and personal checking account offers right before the end of 2010, (when the last ones expired), but I wonder if they're only giving me the bonus miles for one of the account openings. On the 5th my account was credited 10k for a checking account opening (doesn't say which account), but the other 10k haven't posted yet.

Should I wait a little longer, or should I call? And if I do, will bringing it to their attention that I opened both accounts be a flag?

The fine print for both bonuses said that I couldn't be an existing checking account holder. Now, it's a safe assumption that the business offer was referring to an existing business checking account, and likewise for the personal one, but that language was not explicit.

Elijah: The rest of your miles will come in 12,500 and then later the last 2500. Be patient
