San Francisco Here We Come

I’m taking my buddy Kenny to San Francisco for the day. Thank you David for the CR1 for Kenny. It still has not cleared and I only got the SAV-ORD of my UDU to upgrade. The flights to SFO are both oversold so we are hoping to get bumped in SAV to the IAD flight and hour and one half later and arrive at midnight instead of 11:16 PM.

We have a busy day planned Monday with Alcatraz, the Cable car, Fisherman’s Wharf and Chinatown. I am so lucky to have learned this hobby and be able to share it with others.

The same thing happend to me: YMMV even on the same card! Here's what I am talking about:
I did the CO Chase card when it was 30,000 (25,000 plus 5,000 for an additional user) fee waived and a $50 credit. Then the 50,000 offer came out a little while later. I called about maybe getting an extra 25,000 points, but the CSR immediately said NO. I kept reading that people were getting it, so I tried the secured email letter via the CHASE website and they magically appeared!
Also, I opened up a CHASE personal and business checking account for 25,000 each, the personal checking account points posted, but I have been chasing around the business account points for months now and I got NOTHING! But I am still grateful, YMMV

Just an update: I copied and pasted my acceptance email(no identification-just the letter) to my wifes rejection email and resent it back to Chase via her account email.She received a reply the next day stating that they would give her the additional 25,000 as a "courtesy".Persistance does indeed pay off.

Got both extra 25k CO miles from Chase. Used the secured email message, no complaints at all on this one! I see now United's card offers 25k plus 5k…No thank you, I will wait for at least 50k:-)

I am one of the Fairmont lifetime Platinum members now, exciting deal. I will take plenty of pics of the Presidential Suite in SF:-)
Some nice words about the way Fairmont and LivingSocial handled this "error" would be very welcome!

@Frequent flyer junkie – why are you "grateful"? They aren't giving you miles out of the kindness of their heart. You have to do business with them, and they are trying to entice your business by offering bonus miles.
If you completed the terms of their offer and they didn't give you the bonus miles for the business account, you should try to hold them accountable for giving you what you are entitled to for completing the terms of their offer – not feel "grateful" that they only gave you 1 out of 2.

same thing happened to me (and Frequent Flyer Junkie) after the rejection email & letters came, I called in to cancel, and they didn't even FLINCH despite me being a current Chase account holder. I'm going to try again.

Rick, I think what Bill H (and some other readers) did is improper. It's not right that he went back to Chase asking for more miles after he completed his credit card application. Obviously, he decided that he was satisfied with 25K when he signed up for the Continental credit card. He closed the deal. He owns it. Now he's back tracking asking for more miles because he didn't have the patience to wait for a better deal. His reaction is one of jealousy. "Someone got a better deal than I did, and I'm upset." You don't close on a house and then go back to the seller weeks later asking for a sale adjustment because the housing market crumbled since you made your purchase. You don't go back to a retailer asking for the clearance price 6 months after you bought your lawn tractor because it's the end of the season and now the tractor you bought is at a lower closeout price. You need to accept you decisions with no remorse.

Jealous Keith? Not really. Retailers do this all the time.Haven't you ever seen "If you see a lower price within 30 days, we'll honor that price" or banks that offer a better rate if interest paid on a CD goes up or a lower interest rate if rates go down during the term? Don't airlines honor a lower fare if prices drop? No, this happens all the time.
What I objected to was the 2 different replies we received from Chase and I took them to task for it. If they turned us down for the same reason, nothing more would have been said.No one would be upset.By the way, we are both using our cards for most of our purchases, so this was definitely a good decision for Chase.
