I have had the same issue that Justin ran into in changing my HHonors preferences. I change them online but they never stick. Now I just recheck and recheck, which is a pain, but easier then cleaning up the mess after the fact.

Just this month, I wanted to change to Delta and airline miles as my 5 night stay would get a 2,000 miles Delta double dip instead of just 500 miles. I had already made my reservation with other preferences (which may be the root of the problem with Hilton computers). So I changed to Delta online, then called HHonors who said my preferences hadn't changed so thhey did it manually. When I checked in at the hotel, I asked again and—-they still hadn't changed so the desk clerk did it. I asked at the front desk once again during my stay and re-checked again at check out.

I got the Delta miles a.couple of days after ckeck out with no further work omy part.

Speaking of Venture Card, I had over 100K miles on my continental account until a couple of weeks ago when i used 105K for a European trip. now i only have 6K left but the statement shows that i have more and i used 105 of it very recently, i wonder it they will allow me to match 100K or because i used it and only have 6k left i cant and will have to match another account. i hate having to call bank, been trained not to do so, any one has experience with the CS reps

Seems like these "mistaken" switch and bate promos are happening a lot at many companies esp the big banks. Wonder if its being programed into the systems…. BofA seems to be adding many small fees to even the accounts of their high balance "Advantage" customers. Something is up at BofA.

Alaska Airlines mileage plan account system is down right now so I can't give you the specifics, but the last times my wife and I got the Alaska Visa, the bonus came as 2 separate items. One is for 20,000 and one is for 5,000. This may be why the rep you spoke with was confused. They will post to your account at the same time though.
