The card calls for a $25,000 spend to earn the last 10,000 of 40,000 points.
It also has wording indicating that previous United cardholders would not get the sign up bonus.
The first year fee is waived, but clearly the Chase Sapphire Preferred card with a 50,000 point sign up and no foreign transaction fees is a better offer. You can transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Continental miles 1:1 and then into United if you so desire.
Let’s hope Chase rethinks this new card offer in terms of the sign up bonus and minimum spend.
