United/Chase have again postponed their 3 day 60,000 miles credit card promo. The new projected date is now in the first quarter of 2012.

AirTran is also having a big sale that is similar to Southwest’s sale.

Priceline is offering to add $5/night to your Name Your Own Price offer for up to ten nights ($50 total)

American is offering a 50% award booking discount on flights between either San Francisco or Vancouver and Tokyo Haneda on Japan Airlines.

American is also offering double miles between several different Asian cities. Registration and at least K fare is required. Travl on Japan Airlines is also required

Finally American is offering double miles between some US cities and Tokyo. Registration and at least K fare is required.

Hilton’s 100 night giveaway is in Chicago today starting at 4PM EST.

How do your applications for cards work? For the US and Rick sends to you for spend? That seems like it could be tricky (I'll be living in Brazil this next year and will need to figure a way to do the same thing).

Also, on your AA/Qantas flight, how did that work? You reedem on Qantas w/ AA miles, but based on the AA Oneworld Chart or the Oneworld chart on their site (are they same? I can't seem to find the answer).

IE – I'll want to fly from Rio (GIG) to Buenos Aires (EZE) sometime next year; Jan-Jun 2012; it's a Oneworld flight (probably on LAN) using either AA or BA miles; the redemption rates for both of those are different (and I use theirs, right?). BA = 20k points rt, AA=25k rt; I find a LAN flight and any economy is redeemable for that price?

One minor correction — you're talking about an AAdvantage "All-Airline" award, not a OneWorld one. OneWorld awards are very much the wrong way to go for short travels.

Also, if you want to explore Australia more, you might look into using British Airways miles instead. Although the miles for a one-way flight are higher than AAdvantage, they allow stopovers — so you can get a multi-city trip for the price of a single flight.

What did you think of NZ? I'm heading there in January and was wondering if you knew what airline was best to book domestic NZ award flights(AKL to CHC)? I'm guessing a partner award with US or maybe AA? If the value isn't there would driving be worth it?

Any insight would help! Thanks for the blog!

Kevin I'll chip in here as well. nz is my favorite country but the best scenery is the south end of the south island. queens town, teanau and Milford sounds for incredible sights

I'm also moving to Australia in a few months so if Andrew could expand on how to make the Oneworld award with American Air & Qantas it would be greatly appreciated. I have a fair few American points available to me.

The Penfolds wine blending sounds like alot of fun. I will add that to my list of things to do.

I've heard great things about the South Island! Did you ever travel anywhere memorable on the north side? I'm more of an adventure type so I'm planning on jumping off something really high or thrilling myself with something that sane people wouldn't do, like swimming with sharks!

I did a little research and am thinking about converting SPG points to LAN then booking on Qantas since Akl-Chc is under 750 miles. That or I might drive to Queenstown and check out different cities along the way. The thrill is in the journey!

Seemed you liked the Barossa. I've been there a few times. They have a week long vintage bi-annual festival every odd number year (next 2013, barossavintagefestival.com.au). It always starts the Monday after Easter. Lots of event wine and non-wine related events.
