Boogaloo's at 3296 Valencia St for breakfast. Its small, hip and they have some of the best vegetarian gravy in the world. I would make the trip just for the food!

Outerlands (in the Outset Sunset, right on the N).

For Brunch: Mission Beach Cafe – best pancakes. Or Ella's for their Chicken Hash.

For Dinner: Star Belly in the Castro. Last quater I was there and they had an all-you-can fried chicken and sides available for people sitting in their garden out back. Regular menu in the front.

Mission Chinese Food, seconded! It's a pop-up restaurant, so you're actually looking for a sign outside that says Lung Shan restaurant – and yes, it looks pretty ghetto. This is apparently part of its charm.

Avoid Fisherman's Wharf – overpriced and under-flavored.

Limon Rotisserie (21st & South Van Ness, in the Mission) for outstanding Peruvian food on a budget – in a very nice setting that doesn't feel budget at all.

Samovar (3 locations) for tea

Humphry Slocombe or Bi-Rite Creamery for dessert.
