WANTED: Rental car for Chicago seminar trip

Three of us are planning a 5-day trip to Chicago for the seminar (Oct. 28-Nov. 2). We will need a rental car and the prices I've found are through the roof! (I just booked a full-size for a family trip to Orlando in Nov. and it was over $100 less for a week than the best price I've seen for 5 days in Chicago!)

Has anyone found a good deal on a car for the Chicago seminar trip?

A q about your churn: Does total credit exposure factor into an acceptance? At 15+ cards (or however many you have), do you have more exposure than income? Is that ever a reason for rejection, or what is the policy with that? Thanks – Chappy

chappy: my credit limits exceed my reported income, but my utilization is so low it does not seem to be a problem. that said, chase now cuts every one of my approvals by removing credit line $$ from my existing accounts. I am typically offered $5k limits

I got denied for the TY Premier card for "no revolving credit" because i paid my cards off a few days before applying. I was at 25% on one card or so before. I thought you wanted little to no balance before applying? I guess I was wrong. Now I have to do a manual fix to this…sheesh – Chappy

Tips for future success? (This has NEVER happened and I've churned close to 10 cards).

So Rick, with Chase you can apply for a biz card and personal at same time? The separate biz inquiries from personal?

Regarding Chase business apps, do you have to wait 6 months between any (personal or business) app or 6 months between personal apps and 6 months between business apps? Do you think I could get away with 2 Chase personal apps + 1 Chase business app in the same churn? Do you have to prove that you have a business for a business card?

Anon: I don't know if it was one inquiry or two for Chase this time. They haven't been reported yet.

Anon: Do not do more than one personal and one biz with Chase at one time. It is one personal card per 30 days to the best of my knowledge. Biz I do infrequently

I just got a Hyatt from Chase 3 weeks after getting a CO biz card. Took a phone call and closing my Marriott. This is my 10th Chase opened in a year. YMMV but in my case waiting 30 days between apps always works and explaining reasons for biz & personal on phone helps.
