Deals We Like posted that Affinia Hotels is offering rooms for $111.11/night for Sundays between Jan. 2 and Mar. 31. Affinia is a boutique hotel group that has hotels in NYC, Chicago and Wash. DC.

Starwood is also running a promotion for 11/11/11 and it can be found here! The Points guy does a nice job of outlining the promo, but for $11/night extra, you get either a) free night of parking, b) an upgrade, or c) free breakfast for two. SPG members also receive an extra 1,111 StarPoints!

I am considering whether to transfer some MR points to SPG at a ratio of 750 MR points to 333 SPG points. My problem is that I have no idea how the value of an MR point compares to the value of an SPG point. I could really use hotel points but don't want to use my MR points foolishly.

Can anyone give me some suggestions?

Anon. I value MR points at one to two cents each max. SPG points at 2.5 each at a minimum. Bad transfer in my opinion

My rookie tip:

Be careful when looking for business class seat on AA to use BA (Avios) miles on. Even though AA search engine shows flights available for MileSaver Business/First does not mean those seats are available to book using Avios miles in Business class. Example is North American to Hawaii, this routes do not have Business class. They are First Class according to Avios miles, which means they will cost 3 times more miles than Economy instead of the 2 times more miles for Business class.
