Like you, I am very loyal to amazon.com.

They have excellent service and their customer service reps really know what they are doing unlike many companies out there.

Like any company, they have good products and bad products. The only difference with amazon is that if they promise you something, they make good on it.

This is especially true with regards to shipping and returns. They don't ask any questions and they make sure that you get what you ordered. They even pay for return shipping which is very rare for an online company to do.

The last thing I like about amazon is their prices. They truly have the lowest prices in the business(most of the time), and in some states they don't even have any taxes!

Loyal to Delta since they fly direct from SFO to ATL and have gogo wifi in all the flights. Its the experience that counts. Been Delta loyal for the last 5 years and fly them as much as possible (its a lot since I fly every week for work).

I did fly 250K MQM last year (actually in 10 months) and have not flown them since which is unfortunate since I don't get any miles with the airlines I am flying with (I am doing a project with them and have to fly as an employee though I do get business seats).

I'm new to the mileage game, so still forming my opinions on customer service. I just booked two biz award tickets on partner airlines with British Airways miles and it was pain-free, which was a pleasant surprise. We'll see what BA's changes are like next week, but I may stick with them.
I also highly value the Priority Club Rewards online shopping portal, and make all my purchases there. I don't care if you think another portal offers points/miles at a higher value, I have tried them all and PC is the only one that always posts my purchases, and never makes me call up to chase their errors.

I'm loyal to Starwood for the ability of corporate or the platinum concierge to make things right in the rare instance that a problem arises and the hotel isn't following appropriate guidelines. Loyal to amazon for prices, service, and expected hassle free purchase. Used to consider Amex number #1 with my loyalty, but that was severely affected by the recent treatment and situation in which they would not honor a bonus code applied to my account by multiple representatives.

United, certainly for a lot of the same reasons that you wrote about – I know what I'm going to get, and in general, they do a good job delivering it.
Also definitely Amazon. They make it so easy that it long ago became my default place to buy online.

I found your post very interesting as I have never understood the benefit to sticking with one airline/alliance for all my flights. I am all about choosing the flight which enhances my experience, and it sounds like Delta certainly does that for you. I am "loyal" to Delta a few times a year, since they are the only airline offering non-stop flights to DTW from my home airport but for the same reason, I am loyal to US when I need to get to BOS. My time is more valuable to me (hence an "enhanced experience" from my point of view) than the miles I would earn.

On a more traditional level, though, I am very loyal with IHG for my hotel stays. I do a lot of traveling by road, and I am consistently able to find a Holiday Inn Express exactly where I need one, and at a low price. The hotel may not be fancy, but all I need is a clean, quiet room with wifi and free breakfast – and I always get one. Furthermore, it's easy to redeem awards and I love that I can get a free night for just 15K points or splurge when it makes sense for great Intercontinental hotels.

Completely agree. Amazon sets the bar as far as I'm concerned. Subscribe and Save makes life as a road warrior that much easier too!

I guess a guaranteed seat up front is a fair trade for no miles. Flight benefits keep so many in the airline industry in their positions.

Thanks for the comments! I love how everyone has a different perspective on "loyalty". It really is completely in the eye of the beholder.

For me, loyalty is all about me choosing one product or service over another based on previous experience. The Delta flight might be $10 or $20 more than a US Air flight, but when push comes to shove if I get stuck somewhere or need to change a flight Delta will be flexible with me.

We all have different needs and an airline that is flexible and can help me be successful will win my business.

I have found myself ordering more and more from Amazon (even things like tea bags!). Having a Prime Membership has paid for itself, plus now that I'm able to get some USAir points AND the 5 points per dollar from my Citi Forward. . .it's a no brainer.

This one made me think. I'm loyal to Starbucks, coffee drinks only, not food. If i think about when i travel and when i am out with my wife, we know we can consistently get a (reliably) decent espresso every time we visit. I absolutely love mom and pop coffee joints for food and coffee, if available and i have the time to find them, but sometimes their coffee comes up unexpectedly off. As much as it pains me to say it, Starbucks is really my only shopping place i am "loyal" to.

I am loyal to US Airways – yes, one of the few but happy US Airways flyers. They are the perfect choice for me out of my local airport and I route through Charlotte, which is, I believe, one of the nicest airports in the country. I usually have to have cart service and it is there for me – always! As a Chairmans member, I have been guaranteed 100% upgrades this past year and I cannot say enough about the efficiency of the Chairmans Preferred Line. The ontime service of US has consistently been outstanding – the routes offered are perfect for me. And, yes, I love all of those US Airways promotions and miles which make it possible for me to fly Star Alliance routes I could have only dreamed of years ago.

I seem to be locked into DL as I have a ton of miles (1.? mill+ Thanks INGY!)and since I pay to maintain Plat status I will stay there as it costs too much for me to get to Diamond. I have enjoyed all of the customer care you mentioned which is important! My question is will any of the miles over the first 125,000 or 250,000 roll over into the next year's status total?

And Amazon is KING! For all the reasons mentioned above PLUS no tax …

I am loyal to Apple because they put customer service above all else and are always willing to assist you with any problems or questions you may have. It's no coincidence that Apple is rater best customer service in consumer electronics year after year.

I am a loyal Office Depot customer and have been for years. I think their employees are very helpful in the stores which seem to be everywhere. They have a nice loyalty rewards program, I can get extra award points/miles when ordering online and they offer incentives/sales that I like. And a couple of years ago they had a small business video contest where I won $1250 worth of store credit with them. Took some doing but it was fun and a bit exciting.

I only travel infrequently for pleasure, but have recently stepped up my game on collecting points and miles and so as yet don't have strongly cemented loyaltys. However, much of what I like about Office Depot is what I would like with any other company. That it delivers strongly on it's primary product, consistently good customer service, regular sales incentives that are relevant to my needs, a rewards program where I can achieve benefits that I value and the occasional contest or promotion that adds a little fun or challenge to the whole game.

I am pretty loyal to Subway restaurant. Because of my work schedule, I rarely have time for a nice, healthy home cooked meal. I try to eat as healthy as possible, so Subway is one of go to restaurants for a quick bite to eat.

My loyalty with airlines is also with Delta – it all started because of a totally unexpected upgrade on my first flight after becoming FO. After that, I used them for all of my travel, and more than likely will continue to. They have excellent customer service, even when I have had minor issues with them, the airline and people I deal with are incredibly friendly (maybe a product of being HQed in the south).
As far as purchases, I am pretty loyal to Best Buy for most of my electronics shopping. I know there are times that I can get stuff cheaper from Amazon, but most of the time, I take advantage of special offers and promos to get what I need there. I love the opportunity to be able to return something to a physical counter up to 45 days after I purchase it, I love getting extra bonus points, I love the CS, and I love being able to do all the BF shopping the Monday before (one of their exclusive offers for their elites – saves me some sleep!).

My favorite 3 companies to do business with are Southwest, Amazon, & Staples. Amazon has amazing return policies for products that you are just not sure about. I'll purchase my high-end electronics for the peace of mind that I can return it if not satisfied for any reason. Amazon also has amazing customer service, excellent prices, huge selection of items, and fast shipping. Amazon has truly pushed the online shopping industry into a new era. Do you remember what is was like ordering from a catalog store 10-15 years ago where you wait 6-8 weeks for a product with ridiculous shipping & handling fees and terrible return policies? Consumers have a totally different expectation of what is required from mail order companies thanks to Amazon.

Similarly, I found Southwest Airlines, so easy to do business with. As a business traveler, my plans change frequently. Convenience and flexibility are more important to me for all of the short 1-2 hour flights that I commonly take. Free bags to check and the ability to change flights without paying hefty change fees. Although they don't fly to the international destinations or offer first class seating, they are great for domestic travel. Southwest's prices seem to be going up … they've caught on that people are willing to a pay bit more for the product that they offer.

I've also had great customer service experiences with Staples. When I'm in a rush and need to pick up something office related quickly, I'll shop at Staples. Recently, I had them price match Office Depot on a telephone system and an all-in-one printer, and then they even allowed me to use one of their coupons that I received via email ($25 off a $75 purchase). Amazon & Staples had this same item for $159 plus tax, but I paid $59 including tax with the price match & internet coupon. I also had an office chair that I purchased for my dad that seemed to fall apart after 10-11 months. I called them up and they replaced it with another, more expensive chair at no charge.

And also BP gas. Despite all the negative publicity they've had over the past couple years. Not sure if its just marketing jargon, but I'm happy with the way my car runs using their gas.

My wife and I discussed loyalty to businesses a while ago and I am not definitely loyal; I almost always spread my money around, often to the lowest priced commodity. I'm am very non-loyal to business in the travel industry.

However, I am very loyal to Google – I own the stock, I have an Android phone, I use g-mail, I prefer Google Plus to Facebook and I use many of their business products. Great company!

Runner up would be State Farm Insurance/Bank (long story – I'm probably the only one!).

Great post! I'm loyal to Delta and I've been very happy with the upgrades I've received…and I'm only a Delta Gold. I try to fly during off-peak times so I'm more likely to get an upgrade, and I often volunteer to get bumped so I can get travel vouchers and bring my husband along on work trips with a weekend included.

I am loyal to Garmin, Herberger's, Kohls, and Bed, Bath and Beyond. They all have incredible customer service! Their motto seems to be, "We will do whatever it takes to make the customer happy" and they do, without fail.

Some examples:

Herbergers: I had a swimsuit that faded significantly when I wore it in a hot tub. I had had the suit for over a year and no longer had the receipt. My local store didn't have that suit in my size so they called other stores until they found one that did. They had the new one sent to my home and told me to keep the faded one too! That's the level of customer service, which is always very friendly, I always get at Herberger's.

Garmin: I had a GPS that I had had for a little over a year when I accidently dropped it in a swimming pool. It wouldn't even turn on after that. It had a one-year warranty and I didn't expect it would cover dropping it in water. The customer service rep was very friendly and sent me a prepaid label to return it. About a week later, I had a brand new one!

I have had excellent customer service at each of the businesses over many years.

I am loyal to whichever corporation gives me the best total package for what I need. Last year it was US with airline travel – with their two promos that bumped me up tp Gold status with minimal travel.

This/next year, it will be Delta – with their AMEX promos that will get me gold status (and driveable distance to CHA if ever stranded at ATL, or to Kennesaw where I have friends).

If you fight for my loyalty, then I will give you a try. Now I have two mid-tier levels to compare.
