50,000 MR miles plus 30%-50% transfer bonus would yield 65,000 or 75,000 miles, not 75,000-100,000.

$450?! i'm sorry, that is the OPPOSITE of frugal… i couldn't figure out why you would recommend this card to frugal travelers; then i saw the affiliate link attached, and i figured it out. it must be a good affiliate bonus if you say you'll talk more about it in future posts.

you should clarify that this card is really only a good deal for a small number of people… most will NOT get $450 in use out of it.

it is one of the most frugal plays there is. My buddy that is the travel hacker of all times gotone each for seven family members. Look again lounge access is worth $375, incidental airline credit is $200 plus $100 global entry reimbursement plus 25-50k membership rewards points? Many will argue that the points are worth the fee alone. But as always all opinions are welcomed here

The global entry fee comp is only needed once every 5 years but it's a nice perk if you do any international travel. Breezing through customs and border patrol is fantastic!

When searching for airfares, novices often forget to check include nearby airports in their searches. This is especially true if the nearby airport is small; say Dallas Love Field Airport.
I think the following is almost a sureshot way to get lowest fares on domestic itineraries.
1. search kayak.com (check the option for searching from nearby airports)
2. search southwest.com,jetblue.com allegiantair.com, usa3000.com

Math was definitely wrong. "Rookie Travel Tips" is now an advertising blog for credit card referrals. AmEx Platinum has been beat to death previously on other blog sites.

Thanks, Shannon, for the detailed info on the Platinum card. I have been on the fence about it and you clarified the benefits, which I never seemed to have the time to research.
