Hooray! My Citi Forward card is here!! We can maximize our miles and points by taking advantage of
bonus category opportunities. I know everyone is gaga over the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, and I am as well. I used it for dining and all travel related expenses until my Forward card arrived. I now get
5 ThankYou Rewards per dollar on
dining, in
bookstores, and on
movies. The card is under most people’s radar as the sign-up bonus is lousy — really lousy.
I actually cancelled my Citi Thank You Premier card to get this one as I was not using it for its best category, buying airline tickets. Every ticket with the Premier card got you a flight point for every mile you flew on the ticket bought with the Premier card. When you come right down to it, your max was still only two points per dollar. My 50K bonus on the Premier card has long since posted. My wallet now has three everyday cards: Citi Forward for dining, Chase Sapphire Preferred for travel, and the Starwood Preferred Guest card for everything else. I could go even further and put a card in for groceries (Citi Preferred) and gas (PenFed or Hilton Surpass card), but my spend in those categories is limited.
We Got the Ultimate Rewards Points Transferred. I wrote a couple days ago about the great service we got from Rosie. Unfortunately the info she gave us was 100% incorrect. After getting several emails from readers suggesting things just didn’t sound right, I did the travel hacker thing and called back. A very helpful agent moved the points from Katy’s account to mine instantaneously.
We are now ready to book our spring train trip including all meals and a private bedroom. We’ll see the USA the old fashion way and relax to the clickity clack of the rails.
