My best advice to Shannon is to not be surprised if at some moment during the trip you think you made a mistake and it's not worth it. That moment will pass, and you will all be glad you did it. Since you haven't flown with kids for a while…: take the infant car seat with you to the plane. IF there is an empty seat then you will get it for the baby…so much easier for you and the baby AND everybody else when you have a car seat….good luck!

My kids have never pitched a fit on a plane (and have been flying internationally since birth), and I think if you come prepared then you can circumvent any possible fits! Good luck – remember, drink or pacifier on take off and landing!

Rick, which property are you staying? I am thinking to visit Virgin Island, stay in SPG property (on points), but they do have $40/night resort fee, so I'm confused if this is a good choice.

Rick, it is a great choice even with the fee and we have been there many times with our little children.
I would suggest you look into a private water taxi from St Thomas for the trip over to St. John. It is not that expensive and makes the trip much more
convenient with a little dude!

I would be very interested in learning the logistics of traveling with an "infant in arms" when flying on an award ticket. I am a new grandma and this situation may be presenting itself in the near future.

I know you will enjoy your trip. St. John is a wonderful place and should make for a nice family vacation.

Enjoy the Westin at St John. My girlfriend and I recently celebrated our birthdays there, it was a great trip.

Head into town and check out Morgan's Mango, we had a great meal there.

On the other side of the island is the Donkey Diner which is worth the $ taxi fare. Make a deal with your driver to come back and pick you up. We did and it was a meal well worth the effort to get over there.

Question: did you have to pay for the infant in arms? I just went to St. Lucia last week on an award ticket and didn't have to pay for the infant on the way over but was charged on the way back.
