My husband is having the same problem with amex not honoring a spg referral. Screen shots didn't matter. They say they have no record of it, end of story. He spends quite a bit on his biz card, you would think they would want to shell out a measly 5k to keep a good customer happy. I don't think they like the fact he referred his wife:)

One of the least publicized cards is the the Bank of America Virgin Atlantic Card. 45K sign up bonus that transfers to Hilton HHonors at 1:2. There is a $65 annual fee though. However 90K HHonors points is well worth the $65. Moreover Virgin Atlantic allows inter-island trips in Hawaii for 5K miles only. -AngikS

re: Help needed.
I had this problem when I applied for an AMEX Platinum in Nov 2011. The link I used was for a 50k bonus after $3000 spent. I did save a screen shot of my acceptance.

After $6000 spent, I only received 25k. I emailed them on their site, and they said they would get back to me. I sent them my screenshot. They emailed me with a denial.

I then called and talked to somebody who agreed with me, but had to talk to her supervisor. She then transferred me, and spoke to a supervisor who said that she cannot do anything because my inquiry was denied by the backoffice, and it was final (had no idea what that meant, but felt she was being sincere). After chatting with her, I said it really made no sense. I have proof…even it it was a total error I think as am American Express customer I should receive the extra 25k because I had no notice or real explaination. She said the only thing I could do was send a letter, which I thought was skeptical. It was a PO box.

I did send the letter…with the whole story and telling them I am re-thinking my relationship with AMEX.

Feb 14, 2012 I received my 25k. I think a little extra should have been added for my time =). Here is the address just in case somebody would like to use it. Sorry for the long post.

My tip is to leveraging Topguest.com to get you the 50K/60K United Explorer Credit Card bonus WITHOUT any existing miles in your account. I signed-up my father for a mileageplus account as he has never flown United before. By default, he was offered the 30K/40K United Explorer credit card sign-up bonus.

I then linked his topguest/foursquare account to onepass at http://onepass.topguest.com/ . He made a foursquare check-in at our local airport and that earned him 50 mileageplus miles. Logged back into united.com and he was able to sign-up for the 50K/60K credit card bonus. This required no upfront investment or transfer of valuable points from another account in order to get the top credit card bonus offered by United Explorer. Topguest can quickly generate some miles for you at no cost, and in this case, 1 check-in earned an additional 20,000 miles from a credit card bonus.
