I was actual happy with the recent change to the INK Bold card signup bonus. Nobody likes to see minimum spends increase, but the decision to only increase the minimum spend after offering the first 25,000 points with first purchase was refreshing to me. The little guy now gets to participate with this card, and its bonus categories for office supplies, Internet, wireless, and phone bills. The Frequent Miler blog uses many of his blog posts to teach us all how to maximize our earnings at office supply stores. Personally, I appreciate the Frequent Miler effort as it represents fresh information and content almost daily.
Many of us have spent the last three years loading up on card offers and bonuses. When the credit card bonanza first caught on with the travel niche, most of the bonuses were offered on first purchase or with very minimal spend requirements. That has been moving away from us for several months now with the typical new offer requiring an increasing minimum spend before receiving any points or miles.
Low or No Minimum Spend Cards
Some of you may have noticed that we have been updating our website and credit card pages. The changes were long needed and I’m glad to now have the technical help to do so. One thing that has not changed is my list of credit card offers for those limited to low or no minimum spends. At last look, the low spend credit card page had 20 offerings with minimum spends of $0 to $1,000. With your help, we can expand those offerings if you drop me a note with other low spend card offers you find.
Just because these cards have low or no minimum spends required for achieving the signup bonus, it does not make them inferior offers. Looking through the list you’ll see cards for Delta, Hilton, US Airways, Priority Club, Marriott, United, Hyatt, American, and believe it or not, Ritz Carlton. All these fine programs, and others not mentioned, are available for “Average Joe” without huge minimum spend requirements.
As glamorous and fancy First Class International travel may seem, some nights we just need a cheap place to stay or a coach ticket home, and the offers listed on the low spend card page make that possible with little more than a good credit score. That’s how this all got started after all.
To the Chase Marketing Department, thanks for bringing another great product in reach for all of us.
