Todays 35% off southwest fare allowed me to book an 87.00 one way fare from msn to lax. Combined with the companion pass this fare comes to 43.50 per person. Cheapest fare on this type of route in my lifetime.

Need to fly business/first international? Consider joining US Airways Dividend Miles program first and buying up to Chairman’s Preferred (CP).

The process would be to have a location targeted TLV for instance. Call to inquire about buying up to Chairman’s Preferred and look for dates to use your CP Upgrades at the same time as buying up to Chairman’s Preferred. The cost analysis is pretty easy. This July the cost to fly round-trip to PHL-TLV is $1,592 in Y and $4,073 in J per passenger. If you are traveling with two passengers it would cost $3,184 for Y tickets and $3,999 for CP status ($7,183 total). Then upgrade for free to TLV. Or you could purchase the J tickets at $4,073 each ($8,146 total). That is a savings of $963!

The best part of the deal is that you’ll also receive all the benefits of being Chairman’s Preferred on US or Star Alliance Gold on Star Alliance members future flights.
