American Airlines HotSpots (no pun intended, that is what they are called) for August include Denver and Colorado Springs. So a very easy 25K RT to visit each of the places. Although I would check the fares as well, there is a $230 RT to Denver from my regional airport, so I would guess some better deals on fares from elsewhere. So, hopefully it looks like the fires are becoming better contained and you could add some more money into the local economy while you are visiting.
