you did mention the bonus miles to Helsinki. On ITA I was able to find fares as cheap as $792 from ORD on AA. This plus 15K miles PLUS ~11K miles means you get 25K+ miles for <$800 which is 3.2cpm – one of the best deals around.

I was able to find (and book for next weekend) a round trip ticket from Orlando to Honolulu for only 35,000 miles! I find that those tickets are usually in the $900 range!!!!
I searched the same on Delta, US, and United and all were in the 60k-70k range!

GOING FURTHER…check and see if your employer will match your donation. You won’t get miles for the match amount, but you’ll be hard pressed to beat 100% return on your investment. I always thought it best for me to earn my money, invest it, and then donate more when I’m older. But with a guaranteed 100% match from my employer, that strategy doesn’t make sense. I’ve made it a goal now to max out my company donation match each year. Consider it! 100% return on your investment guaranteed and it goes to charity.

The least expensive item I could find was $19.99 with $10.99 delivery, and there were many items at this price.

With tax this came to $33.53 for me.

$33.53/1500 miles = 2.24 cents per mile

This would be much cheaper than buying the miles outright, and you would get a stuffed animal or something else out of it, too.

seating and waived checked baggage fees, when flying on Alaska Airlines. The miles earned for flying on Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air count toward qualification for elite status.
