Actually, what I said is that the offer doesn’t say you have to use Uber to get the points. But I’m told by folks signing up with the Virgin America 800 point offer that in their Uber account it says ‘after first use’.

In which case I think it’s better to sign up using promo code YELPSF for a $20 credit towards first use.

I still believe this is a great deal!

Marriott Platinum Status Challenge has become much easier than before! Only 9 stays within 3 months are required. Everyone can call and ask for a challenge so if you have upcoming hotel stays, why not give it a try?

One new finding about JetBlue’s mystery promotion is that you actually can use the code multiple times! So instead of booking a round trip, you can book two one way tickets and use the code twice to double the saving!

Southwest and airtran are both offering double rapid rewards or A+ credits for all flights booked & flown between 9/13/12 and 11/14/12. So on Southwest you can get 12 points/$ instead of 6, or 2 A+ Airtran credits/one-way domestic flight, instead of just 1. We can really take advantage of this though and make the best of the ongoing merger. Follow along!

By default, 19,200 Southwest Rapid Rewards Points are worth $318 in airfare (19,200x.$0166). But if you transfer them to Airtran Rapid Rewards Credits, and then back to Southwest as RR CREDITS, instead of RR POINTS, you can get 2 one way Wanna Get Away fares REGARDLESS of their price.

19,200 southwest points can be converted into 16 A+ Airtran via the transfer function on Southwest.com. Once you do that, then transfer the 16 A+ Airtran credits back to Southwest to get 16 Rapid Rewards Credits (you want/get Rapid Rewards CREDITS, not Rapid Rewards POINTS). 16 RR Credits are worth 2 one way awards on Southwest, regardless of price.

So during this promotion, if you spend $1600 on southwest airfare, you’ll get 19,200 RR points. Convert those to 16 Airtran A+ credits, then to 16 Southwest RR credits. You can then use those for two one way tickets, like Birmingham to Seattle, or Jacksonville to Seattle, which pricing a last minute ticket for tomorrow rings up at $451 in cash (or a flat 8 RR credits). So while you spent $1600 in southwest airfare to get 19,200 RR points, you could get $902 back via redemption!

Normally, outside of this promotion, it would take $3200 in southwest airfare purchases to get those 19,200 RR points! During this promotion, and while playing the SW/Airtran transfer game, you could get a 56% return on the money you spend on Southwest flights! (56% return is based on the $451 BHM/SEA or JAX/SEA last minute pricing samples. Cheaper tickets would result in a lower return, but still 2x better than normal!).

Delta is offering 70,000 Skymiles + $100 statement credit after spending $5k in 6 months. Highest I’ve EVER seen this bonus. You can’t have this card if you already have it or have had it in the last 2 years. Here’s how to get it:

1) Go through the steps of booking a ticket on Delta.com. Once you select the two flights you want, you’ll get an offer for 30k near the bottom/middle of the screen. This is the same screen that has a button to “Enter Passenger Info”.

2) Click the checkbox that says “Yes! I would like to learn more or apply now for a Gold Delta Skymiles Credit Card…”

3) Click the “Enter Passenger Info” button. It’ll take you to the next page where the Amex frame will takeover the “Passenger Information” page.

4) In Chrome or Safari, right click on the frame and select “open frame in new tab”

5) In the new tab, change part of the the URL from U7-1000-whatever to U7-1000-46 and get rid of all the text after the 46. Press enter, and the app will refresh and turn into 70k + $100!
