It’s time for the old fat guy (although 20 lbs lighter) to eat a little crow. I made a comment several weeks ago on the Frequent Miler blog that many took offense at regarding Scott’s “Donate Button”. In retrospect I probably should have just kept my mouth shut. I’ve made that mistake before and will again many times I’m sure.
In the meantime I’ve had some time to read the site and you will see it has been added to my blogroll as a site well worth exploring.
The writing is very descriptive and offers clear explanations to newbies and old vets alike. The use of videos is also a welcome addition for those that learn through that medium.
The mile value calculator and leaderboard are unique and well thought out as well. And the award booking service brings downward pressure on pricing and another legitimate player to the award booking game. I think the long term players in the award booking field are overworked and it will be interesting to see if a new player will force the price down or Scott will increase his price to match. I guess we’ll soon find out.
I found the yet to be started approach to credit card affiliate links to be well, yet to be started. I have no doubt that Milevalue will have affiliate links in the future and a well thought out approach prior to starting is a great idea. It is also great to see this new blog take the “I’m going to do it on my own” approach instead of affiliating with a conglomeration of blogs. Owning your own game takes more works but in the long haul was definitely the right decision for me.
In conclusion milevalue.com is being added to my daily read list. The site has been bookmarked. I’m looking forward to meeting Scott in October at the Chicago Seminars and look forward to learning from him. Hopefully he can give me a few poker tips as well. I can see another great young player in the travel niche and am looking forward to having his blog in my daily reads:
- ThePointsGuy
- Frequent Miler on BoardingArea
- Million Mile Secrets
- MommyPoints on BoardingArea
- One Mile at a Time on BoardingArea
I try to read all 50+ blogs in the space, but the above I make sure to catch everyday. Wow we’ve got a lot of players.
