We had a great year in 2012 and topping it in 2013 may be, well, difficult. We have seen all the world we want to see, and now its time to start doubling back for revisits to some spots we enjoyed and picking up the things we missed. In addition, I’d like to take some friends with us on our adventures that just haven’t taken the time or been fortunate enough to play this game in the past.
We have been to Paris twice, climbed the Eiffel Tower, yet never been to the Louvre. We’ve done the Muse Orsee and ridden through the Chunnel on the Euro star. Its time to see Paris again. I think fall will be the best time. The end of August maybe.
Vienna and the Matterhorn have escaped our past trips to Europe. And we have not spent enough time in the Alps. Maybe a separate trip or combined with Paris. Only time will tell.
Some may remember I took Average Joe to Scotland last year for his dream trip and this year it is his wife Claire’s turn. She is a feisty Italian. Claire is family is from southern Italy, but I think we can get her and Joe to Rome, Venice and Milan.
Another fishing trip, in addition to Chile in February is in order as well. I had a ball in Park City last year and may swap our timeshare out again for a redo of that adventure, or maybe somebody has another hot western trout stream to suggest.
Katy and Paulette had a ball at the Westin Lake Las Vegas on the recent girl’s weekend and I’m always up for a trip to the poker tables. I made three of four final tables on my last trip and am itching to return already.
And New Zealand is calling me again. A magical place with spectacular scenery and no crowds. We’ve got to go back again in their Summer time. I need another NZ rainbow trout. The wide open spaces are so amazing. I looked at the pictures from our past trips just yesterday. I yearn for the Kiwis again. Maybe it will be New Years in Queenstown again?
As I read through this post I am so grateful for the game we all play. There is no conceivable way I would be able to do all these things and visit all these places again and even see them for the first time without this hobby. It will all happen with the comfort of business class seats and at least 3 star hotels. What a dream life we have. And another grandbaby on the way! J

Next week, I run through my points and miles balances to complete the dreams above, and the basics of my plan for 2013.
