Travel agents and tour groups call the trifecta of Disneyland, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon the “Golden Triangle.” Three great destination, one amazing trip. To get a family of four twelve days to experience this all will take a couple each applying for credit cards twice.
The couple will both have to have a minimum credit score of 725. And they’ll need to be able to spend $4,000 combined on credit cards per month. The first applications will require five credit cards each; the second will require one of them to get three, and the other two. But if they follow this advice, they can get a trip valued at $4,872 for only $498.

The Citi Reserve card gets them two free weekend nights, and the Surpass cards get them a total of 80,000 points. The Hilton Anaheim is a Category 6 property, costing 40,000 points per night. Those 80k get the family another two nights. And a great perk of the hotel is that it’s located just across the street from Disneyland.

March 7-9: Disneyland and California Adventure

Explanation: We’ve made this point before, but we should make it again: statement credits are not a great redemption of Ultimate Rewards points. We value these points at 1.9 cents a piece, so a penny per point redemption is not great.
A great site to use for discounted Disneyland tickets is MouseSavers. We found 3-day Park Hopper tickets for $215 for adults and $200 for children. The total cost is $830. At a penny a point, to cover $830 you would need 83,000 Ultimate Rewards points. Two Sapphire cards will get you 86,000 and cover the cost for 4 tickets.

(Note: we checked rental car prices using Hotwire.com.)
