World Travel is not always sunshine and palaces. Aquas Calientes, Peru.

I loaded up on the latest First Class fares for 2010 travel to Spokane. Five of them are from Minneapolis via Chicago and Seattle returning via Denver. The total mileage is 3794 each round trip but as they are booked in first class they earn 150% elite qualifying miles or 5691 per trip. At $146 that comes out to 2.57 cents per Elite Qualifying mile. They are five days straight in February all around the Valentines day, Presidents day weekend. Each is fully refundable and I will be looking for the bumps each and every day as I can cancel the next days flights if the compensation is high enough. That total will get me 28, 455 EQM.

The next three are Chicago via Phoenix to Spokane on US Airways in First Class. Each trip is 4920 miles round trip, again in first class for 150% EQM or 7380 eqm per trip at a cost of $146 or 1.98 cents per EQM.

The total take of 50,500 EQM costs $1168 or 2.3 cents each. I would easily pay 3.5 cents for EQM all credited to United including the US Airways miles.

With the return from New Zealand in January and Hawaii trip in April our YTD total for 2010 is already 71,553 EQM and it is still 4 months until the year starts.

The New Zealand trip was via the Thank You points network and really no cost to us. And the tickets to Hawaii came from cash as a mistake fare of $280.

My out of pocket for 71K of UA EQM is $1448. That works for me and with the bump opportunities that will avail themselves on those two holiday weekends, I may have spent my last dime on United for 2010 :)

This is a MUST Have for All Frugal Travellers and it is FREE

I have sampled the Transunion free trial and now using the Equifax free trial. This is a far superior system as far as a customer understanding the information provided.

Remember, that the credit agency free trial you should use is based primarily on the state you live in and the credit card company you will be applying with. The search feature on the blog should take you to the blog article on Creditboards.com and the forum on credit pulls and the credit pulls database.

My target applications are the Citicards again for American Airlines miles. I will be applying from my winter address in South Carolina and the credit pulls forum indicates that Citi pulls their credit inquiries in South Carolina from Equifax.

Here is a sample of the information provided re: my individual credit score:

The Bottom Line

“A FICO® score of 745 is about average. Most lenders would consider scores in this range as good, and an indication that you are a dependable borrower. Based on your score alone, you might expect the following:

It is very unlikely your applications for credit cards or other loans will be turned down, based on your score alone.

Most lenders will consider offering you very attractive and competitive rates and terms on loans.

Many lenders will be able to provide you with an instant approval status based on your score.”

The service is free for 30 days with a free trial offer. It will be worth your time to learn their system of reporting and see for yourself the things that can and will effect your credit score. I have the “Equifax Credit Watch with 3 in 1 Monitoring with FICO Score” free trial.

We Grew Last Month = Thank You All

Every month since starting this blog, the readership has increased steadily. But after putting out the call for your help last month to “spread the word”, we picked up another 10% in blog readership.

Times may be tough, but we still all have dreams. Thank you for helping me spread the word that we can all still see the world at prices we can afford.

Entertainment Access Free Movies????

I registered yesterday for the free movie tickets, got a confirmation, and today get an email saying it (the promotion) has expired. We call that the FW effect. Fatwallet goes to hundreds of thousands and they overwhelmed the system. Sorry about that.
