Last week, I wrote a post about the top 10 places worldwide to use your annual free night certificate from the Chase Hyatt Visa. The annual free night is only valid at Category 1-4 properties. The hotels on this list were ranked based on location, value, and Tripadvisor ratings. There was just one US based hotel and some readers stated that they wished I had included a list of US properties, since some folks redeem their awards at domestic properties. Here are some of the best Category 1-4 US -based Hyatt properties, ranked according to the same standard listed above:
1. Hyatt at Olive 8 (Seattle, WA)
Category 4 Hotel, 15,000 points per night
The Hyatt Olive 8 is located in the theatre district of downtown Seattle. The hotel prides itself on being the first LEED certified hotel in the city, offering both luxurious and environmentally friendly accommodations. With rates of over $300 per night in the summer, you will get great value out of your annual free night certificate at the Hyatt Olive 8.
2. Andaz Savannah (Savannah, GA)
Category 4 Hotel, 15,000 points per night
This hotel may not be sleek and trendy like your typical Andaz, but it’s located right on Ellis Square, steps from the city’s Historic District. The great thing about Andaz properties is that all guests get access to complimentary snacks and non-alcoholic drinks, which is especially useful when you’re traveling with kids. Summer rates at this hotel average around $200 per night.
3. Hyatt Regency San Francisco (San Francisco, CA)
Category 4 Hotel, 15,000 points per night
While this hotel is in desperate need of a renovation, you can’t beat the location right on Embarcadero. You’re just steps from a shopping center and can easily walk to Market Street, Union Square, and Fisherman’s Wharf. Rates in the summer are as high as $500 per night, though you can sometimes find weekend rates of $180. Either way, your free night won’t go to waste here.
4. Hyatt The Pike Long Beach (Long Beach, CA)
Category 3 Hotel, 12,000 points per night
This hotel offers comfortable, modern accommodations close to a variety of great restaurants and activities for families. My sister stayed here recently on a family trip and used a Diamond suite upgrade to get into a 2-bedroom suite, which is pretty spectacular. The hotel gets high marks for service and location.
5. Hyatt Escala Lodge Park City (Park City, UT)
Category 4 Hotel, 15,000 points per night
This is a great place to redeem your points for a winter getaway. The Hyatt Escala Lodge prides itself on being an AAA Four Diamond ski resort with an accessible location 30 minutes from Salt Lake City Airport. Standard rooms offer 380 sqft of space with a kitchenette. Summer rates top $200 per night, while rooms in the winter season go for around $300 per night.
6. Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa (Santa Ana Pueblo, NM)
Category 4 Hotel, 15,000 points per night
Chances are you haven’t heard of this property, but it is highly ranked by guests and offers a unique, secluded resort experience. Giving off more of a ranch vibe than a resort, guests are surrounded by a stunning landscape and plenty of activities to keep them busy. The resort offers horseback riding, Golf, and a variety of cultural activities, to name a few. Rates during the summer average around $180 per night.
7. Hyatt Regency Orange County (Garden Grove, CA)
Category 3 Hotel, 12,000 points per night
This is a great place to stay if you’re taking the family to Disneyland. The hotel operates a shuttle to Disneyland, which costs $5 per person, per day. Kids aged 10 and under ride free. Summer rates at this hotel can top $250 per night.
8. Hyatt Regency Sacramento (Sacramento, CA)
Category 3 Hotel, 12,000 points per night
If you want a city hotel with a resort feel, the Hyatt Regency Sacramento fits the bill. The hotel is right across from the State Capitol Building, you can easily walk around downtown to some great restaurants and a nearby shopping center. Capitol Park is the perfect place to go for an early morning run and on weekends you practically have the place to yourself.
9. Grand Hyatt Atlanta (Atlanta, GA)
Category 3 Hotel, 12,000 points per night
The Grand Hyatt is located in the upscale Buckhead area of Atlanta, located close to a variety of shopping and dining establishments. With rates up to $300 per night, this is a great place to put your annual free night to use.
10. Hyatt Regency Chicago (Chicago, IL)
Category 4 Hotel, 15,000 points per night
If you’re attending the Chicago Seminars this fall and want to spend an extra night or two in the city, the Hyatt Regency Chicago is the perfect place to put your free night certificate to use. The hotel is close to the Magnificent Mile. Mid-week rates around the time of the Seminars are $280 per night.
These are all great properties that will help you maximize the value of your annual free night certificate. Even factoring out the free night, they are very accessible at 12,000-15,000 points per night. Be sure to check out post on how to stock up on Hyatt points if you plan on staying at one of these hotels on points.
