The weekend of January 23, 2015, I’ll be speaking at the New York Times Travel Show at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. Talking mileage runs, points and miles on the Today Show was pretty darn cool, but being on the same stage and right before Arthur & Pauline Frommer just seems unreal — they’ve been a staple in the travel industry for 50+ years!
The three-day show hosts 20,000 attendees and 150+ experts in travel and is celebrating its twelfth anniversary this year. I’ll have the honor of sharing the main stage Saturday afternoon with Ari Charlestein (who has also been a speaker and sponsor at the Chicago Seminars) as we show everyone how they can travel at prices they can afford. Travel isn’t just for the 1%, and we prove that day in and day out here!
Ari and I will cover topics from credit cards to hotel promotions and how to double, triple or quadruple dip on points and miles. We’ll even talk about how you can make this an effective game for everyone in the family to play. The goal is to open everyone’s eyes to the benefits that are available through loyalty programs. We want to break the mold of traditional thinking of how to accumulate and use hard-earned points and miles — it doesn’t need to be just paying for flights and hotel rooms!
Later Saturday afternoon, Angelina Aucuello and I will be leading a “Meet the Experts” session on maximizing points and miles. The Experts sessions allow for personal one-on-one discussion to ask and answer real questions. If you were at the Chicago Seminars this past year you know how fun Angelina and I are! And if you can’t make it Saturday, there is another Experts session on Sunday with John Carter and Caroline Lupini. Bring your questions, as this is the perfect opportunity to get them answered.
If you plan on being in the area that weekend and want to meet up, I’d love to (email me)! If you’ve got an idea for a great place to have a small dinner for approximately 10 people, I’d love to help coordinate it — just keep it frugal (and tasty). I’ll convince some of the other speakers to come as well!
I’m giving away 20 tickets to the show (each ticket is good for Saturday or Sunday, but not both). To win one of the tickets simply leave a comment with your email address and a travel question you’d like answered. I’ll pick 20 winners and notify you via email this Friday. If you want to purchase tickets or need additional tickets you can grab them at the NY Times Travel Show registration site.
If you’re in the area, I hope you’ll stop by. This will be my first time at the show. I’m sure we can all learn a few things!
