American Express opened a temporary pop-up Centurion Lounge at Deer Valley ski resort in Park City, Utah.
The lounge is located mid-mountain near Montage hotel located at 9100 Marsac Ave. It is accessible by car and is about a 10-minute drive from Park City Mountain Resort. Lounge hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and it is open for a limited time through March 19.
A fellow FrugalTravelGuy writer Caroline Lupini and I both happened to be in the neighborhood last weekend and decided to check out the lounge with two other guests as part of The Platinum Card from American Express benefits.
We arrived after 2 p.m., and the busy lounge was standing room only. However, we quickly found a spot to sit down and enjoy the appetizers.
Servers passed out shot glasses filled with the most delicious butternut squash soup I’ve ever tasted and s’more desserts. Tacos and nachos were available earlier but unfortunately ran out before we got there. Snacks included PROBAR meal bars, NOKA organic smoothies and Vosges chocolates, to name a few.
The lounge had a bar set up in one corner and a wine station in another with tastings hosted by none other than Anthony Giglio, wine director for The Centurion Lounge network. Having the official sommelier interacting with, and pouring wines for, lounge guests on location was a special treat.
I was impressed with the decor, especially for a pop-up lounge located in the middle of a snowy mountain. The check-in desk featured a signature leafy background. The furniture was comfy, carpet was soft, and the walls had photo paper with the images of the actual airport lounges across the United States. It was such a gorgeous day at Deer Valley, many people were lounging on the “patio” area with drinks in hand.
Overall, my friends and I were impressed with how well the lounge was put together. Complimentary lip balm, hand cream and hand warmers were available inside. We didn’t use other services, such as free ski lessons or equipment tuning, but they were available for the lounge guests.
Are you skiing in Utah this week? If so, check out The Centurion Lounge at Deer Valley.
