I’m a Chase enthusiast to the core, and it’s not just because they have the best transfer partners in the business. I love the ease of using the Chase Sapphire Preferred and the Chase Sapphire Reserve, and I believe the Chase travel portal is in a league of its own.
Since we travel a lot with our kids, we mostly book condos or AirBNBs. Occasionally, we find two or three-bedroom condos via the Chase portal, as evidenced by the property we booked in Madrid this fall.
But what I really, really love is using points to book travel through the Chase portal. While I can use airline miles for flights and cash back for condo rentals, the Chase travel portal makes it easy to book fun adventures for free.

Some of the Excursions I Booked this Summer
As I mentioned earlier this year, my husband and I are taking our kids on a three-week European adventure this summer. We’ll spend some time in Germany, the bulk of our trip in Italy, then a final week in Switzerland.
We paid for our flights with Flying Blue miles transferred from Membership Rewards, then used cash back to rent our condos. From there, we used Chase Ultimate Rewards to book a ton of fun stuff to keep everyone happy and entertained.

Some of the Stuff I Booked Through Chase Includes:
- Skip the Line: Pitti Palace and Palatine Gallery Walking Tour in Florence – I booked this for me and my husband (and no kids this time). It was 3,042 points per person with the Chase Sapphire Reserve.
- Small-Group Florence Duomo Baptistery and Grande Museo del Duomo Tour – This was 3,388 points per person with the Chase Sapphire Reserve and I booked it for our entire family plus my brother.
- Pizza and Gelato Cooking Class in the Chianti Countryside – I booked this for all five of us for my daughter’s 6th It’s going to be a surprise, but I believe she’ll have fun because she loves to cook! It was a splurge at 4,770 points per adult and 2,384 points for kids, but I wanted my girls’ birthday to be special.
- Unique Friday Night Inside the Vatican Museums with Dinner and Sistine Chapel – I booked this for just my husband and I, thinking it would be romantic and fun. It was a splurge at 8,275 points each, but I think it will be worth it. I can’t wait to see all the Vatican’s beautiful art without the crowds.
- Cinque Terre Day Trip with Transport from Florence – Touristy I know, but I have always wanted to go. I paid 4,922 points per adult and 2,461 points per kid for this trip. I think it’s a steal!
Final Thoughts
Believe it or not, this is only a sampling of the excursions I booked through Chase Ultimate Rewards for our big summer trip. We’re also doing a guided Colosseum tour, seeing the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill again, going to Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast for the first time, and doing an electric bike tour.

The bottom line is, tours through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal can be a huge value – and a lot more diverse than you think. If you’re interested in earning these type of rewards, make sure to check out the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Ink Business Preferred Credit Card, or the new Reserve card. Once you rack up enough points, you’ll have the money to pay for the components of travel you can’t book with airline miles or hotel points.
What’s the best thing you’ve ever booked through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal? What is your favorite excursion of all time?
