A few weeks ago, I wrote about the credit cards I plan to sign up for in the next few months – the Hyatt credit card and the Hilton Honors Surpass Card from American Express. But one card I truly want is still missing from that list. What I really want is the Ink Business Preferred Business card. Unfortunately, they have denied us twice – once when I applied and another time for my husband.
Since the Chase 5/24 rule applies to this card and other Ultimate Rewards cards, it’s doubtful I’ll get it any time soon. But I’m still hoping and angling for it anyway, and I may apply again under my husband’s name this fall.

Signup Bonus
Right now, you can earn 80,000 points after you spend $5,000 on your card within three months when you apply online. Those points are worth $1,000 in travel through the portal (more if you also have the Chase Sapphire Reserve), but you can also transfer them to awesome partners like Southwest, Hyatt, Marriott, British Airways, and Flying Blue.
Awesome 3x Categories
Since my husband and I own an online business, the 3x categories for this card are amazing. Earning 3x points on shipping, online advertising with search engines and social media, internet, cable, and phone, and travel would be a game-changer.
You Can Pool Points in a Chase Sapphire Reserve Account
I tend to book a ton of excursions and activities through the Chase portal. Fortunately, I could get even more value out of these points by pooling them in one of our Chase Sapphire Reserve accounts to get 50 percent off travel.
No Foreign Transaction Fees
I love it that I could use my business credit card for business purchases abroad without paying a foreign transaction fee for the privilege.
Free Employee Cards
Some business credit cards (I’m looking at you, Amex Plat) want to charge outrageous fees for employee cards. I really like the fact the Ink Business Preferred card makes it easy to offer employee cards without paying a fee. The more cards you have in use, the easier it is to rack up points.
Cell Phone Protection
Get up to $600 in cell phone coverage for theft or damage for you and your employees listed on your monthly cell phone bill when you pay it with your Chase Ink Business Preferred credit card. While this coverage is free, you have a $100 deductible per claim and can only submit three claims per year.
Trip Cancellation/Interruption Insurance
I used this coverage once before, getting a $500+ reimbursement when we were stuck in Jamaica for two additional days. I love Chase travel coverage and would use this card to pay for all my business travel for sure.
Final Thoughts
If you’re a business owner and think you might qualify for this card from Chase, applying is a smart move. Not only can you earn 80K bonus points when you apply online, but you can pool those points with other Chase Ultimate Rewards cards, too.
While we haven’t been able to get approved for this one yet, I’m still holding out hope. In the meantime, our Ink Cash card will have to do the trick.
Do you have this business credit card? Why or why not?
