By now you’ve probably heard the exciting news: The sign-up bonus on the Citi Prestige card has increased to 75,000 points! The spending requirement is somewhat steep (but achievable) at $7,500 in 3 months. You might be thinking, “This sounds great and all, but what can I do with 75,000 Citi ThankYou points? Lucky for you, there are lots of awesome ways to put the sign-up bonus to use. Here are my picks for 4 great ways to redeem 75,000 Citi ThankYou Points:
- Fly in a Singapore Suite. Singapore Airlines is a great Citi ThankYou partner, despite this year’s devaluation. The good news is that you can still fly Singapore Suites using the sign-up bonus earned from the Citi Prestige Card. A roundtrip flight between New York and Frankfurt in Suites Class will set you back 76,000 Krisflyer miles. Yes, that’s more than 75,000 points, but after you meet the spending requirement on the card, you’ll have enough miles. If you want to downgrade to business class, you can do the same flight for 65,000 miles.
- Book 5 one-way awards on Virgin Atlantic. Virgin Atlantic is a pretty cool airline and one I totally wouldn’t mind flying to London in economy class. If you’re based in the West Coast, you might appreciate the truly awesome award redemption rates. A one-way flight between San Francisco and London will set you back just 15,000 – 25,000 miles one way! Even the taxes are fairly reasonable. The 15,000 mile rates are good for travel between September 18 – December 12. After that, expect to pay the higher rates. But still, that’s 3-5 one-way economy award tickets…to London! If you’re trying to book a family vacation, get your spouse a card too and you can cover roundtrip airfare for 3 – 5 people!
- Book two roundtrip tickets to Europe. Air France and KLM’s Flying Blue program can offer tremendous value if you transfer your ThankYou points to it. A great feature of this program are Promo Awards, a list of discounted awards that changes every month. This month, for example, you can fly roundtrip between New York (JFK) and Paris (ORY) for 37,500 miles roundtrip. Compare that to the normal rate of 60,00 miles most rewards programs charge. So with the 75,000 point bonus from the Citi Prestige card, you can cover two roundtrip tickets to Europe. How awesome is that?!
- Get $930+ Worth of Airfare on American Airlines. If all else fails, you can always redeem Citi ThankYou points for American Airlines flights. Your points will be worth 1.25 cents each, which is actually not bad considering you’ll also earn redeemable and elite qualifying miles through the AAdvantage program. With 75,000 miles, you can get about $937.50 worth of airfare on American Airlines. Not bad!
These are just a few of the ways to redeem the Citi Prestige card’s sign-up bonus. I’d love to know your thoughts: How would you redeem 75,000 Citi ThankYou points? Please share in the comment section.
